Yesterday was another busy day as we were training a client’s carers in the home. Training in the home environment is so beneficial as we are able to assess any issues, and find the solutions, as they occur. All of the training we offer is tailored to the client, their needs and goals. Something that simply cannot be done on-line OR in an external venue.
Category: Manual handling for carers
The importance of correct manual handling
All manual handling care plans should be tailormade to the needs of the person that carers are working with, whether they live in a residential home or in their own home. Problems start to appear when carers use generalised techniques and apply them to all of their clients. The risks of getting it wrong are particularly high when the same equipment is used with multiple users, for example at schools, hospitals and care homes.
The importance of hoisting for carers
Some of our clients are hoisted for all transfers. This means they are reliant on others to transfer them from one place to another. These clients are unable to bear weight on their feet or have been instructed to not do so.
